Blepharoplasty Eyelid Surgery
Serving Salt Lake City, Utah and surrounding areas
Eyelid surgery – also called blepharoplasty – is used to
correct droopy, heavy eyelids, or upper and lower eyelids that
have excess, fatty tissue in them. The three most common areas
of blepharoplasty eyelid surgery are:
Upper eyelid lift
This is any sort of surgery involving droopy, heavy upper
eyelids. It can also correct puffy eyelids resulting from excess
fatty tissue. The most common causes of this type of eyelid are
age and genetics.
Lower eyelid lift
This eyelid surgery procedure corrects droopy or puffy lower
eyelids. The procedure concentrates on the removal of fatty
tissue. Ideal candidates have eyes that appear swollen and
tired.
Lower eyelid suspension
This eyelid surgery procedure is done on lower eyelids that
produce excessive weeping, inflammation, irritation, redness,
and blurred vision.
The surgical techniques for all of these procedures are
determined at the time of the consultation. They involve a minor
incision made in either the upper or lower eyelid crease, or
inside the lower eyelid itself. Then fatty tissue is removed, in
most cases, along with the tightening of skin. The incision is
closed, and the end result is eyes that appear more alert, alive
and less irritated.
The recovery process takes a few weeks. After about a week or
two, you’ll be able to read and watch TV, and resume other
normal activities. During the recovery process, you may need to
clean your eyes with a special solution.
There is very minimal scarring, because of the locations of the
incisions.
