Facelift Frequently Asked Questions

Serving Salt Lake City, Utah and surrounding areas

What is a facelift?
A facelift is a procedure that tightens the facial skin, eliminating wrinkles, and creating a more youthful appearance.

What does the facelift procedure involve?

Two incisions are made in the hairline. Through those incisions the skin is gently pulled upward until it is taut. Then the excess tissue is removed and the incision is closed.

Is there scarring?

Yes, but the scarring is small and inside the hairline, making it almost impossible to detect.

What is the end result?
Care is taken to ensure a very natural look. Your skin will appear tighter, and younger, but not “pulled.”

Who is a candidate for a facelift?

Typical candidates are men and women between the ages of 40 and 80 whose skin has become wrinkled and sagged due to age and/or lifestyle.

What is the recovery process like?
Most patients take about a week off from work and social activities, because their face will feel sore and appear irritated.

What if I’ve had a facelift but am unhappy with the results?
We can help in that case, too. We specialize in improving previous, poorly done facelifts.

What if I just want improvements on part of my face?

It depends on what part of your face you want to improve. In some cases, we’ll be able to perform a procedure called a mid-face lift, which only affects part of your face. In other cases, a different surgical procedure may be required.
