Vascular Lesion Removal - Laser Surgery
In the Logan, Ogden, Park City, Provo, Salt Lake City,
St. George, Utah and surrounding areas
Vascular lesions are red areas on the surface of the skin that
can be caused by many skin conditions including hemangiomas,
port wine stains, and broken capillaries. Vascular lesions will
not resolve themselves over time, but they can be safely and
effectively removed using laser therapy. There are many different types of lasers that can be used to treat vascular lesions, including V-Beam, Diolite, and YAG lasers. The technology for each is essentially the same. The laser delivers an intense, yet gentle, pulse of light to the targeted area and is then absorbed by the hemoglobin in red blood cells – the same cells that are creating the vascular lesion. When the hemoglobin absorbs the high-energy pulse, it causes the cells to heat up enough for the blood vessel to shut down. When this happens the visible lesion disappears.
There are minimal side effects and a low risk of scarring
because the laser is calibrated to only affect the hemoglobin in
the targeted area. Once the blood vessels causing the lesion
have been destroyed, the body will gently break it down and
clear it away naturally.
